In Polish and Slovakian Tatras there are no short walks to the crags. It depends where from you access these climbs :) If you want to access from Zakopane, you need about three hours to nearest climb. You've got mountain huts on the way, so you might decide to stay for night there. Example of approaches from mountain huts on Polish side:
- 1 hour approach from Morskie Oko Hut/camp to nearest good quality climbs (Kopa Spadowa, Mnich)
- 45 minutes from Hala Gąsienicowa Hut to nearest climb (Kościelec).
- 1 hour from the 5 lakes valley (dolina pięciu stawów) to the base of Zamarła Turnia.
(times are for quick walkers :) ).
In Slovakian Tatras it is more less the same. The exception is that you can make your way easier and use the cable car/chair lift to get closer to Lomnica West face and Kiezmarski South face. Probably the last one would be easiest accessible crag in Tatras as it takes 20 minutes by cable car and then about 30 minutes of walk to the base of the wall. Kiezmarski offers good quality granite and long routes.
