Click to Enlarge PictureLast week, Steve McClure and many climbing websites reported that the 38-year-old had onsighted his first 8c, Amistad in Rodellar. 8a has been informed that locals saw him use a tree branch to the right instead of climbing the crux at the top.
Steve comments to 8a: "Maybe using the tree did make a difference and thats why it didn't feel so hard, I'm more than happy to be 'stripped' of the ascent, if someone feels that way, or perhaps be rewarded with a 'shrubbery grade'!""
